DOWNLOADABLE DIGITAL AUDIOBOOKS AT YOUR
NEW CARLISLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Inspired by "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss.

I do not like digital audiobooks.
I would not listen to
them in a car.
I would not listen them them in a jar.
I would not listen to them here or there.
I would not listen to them anywhere.
I do not like digital audiobooks.

Try them, try them and you may.
Try them, try them and you may I say.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our current service works only with MP3 players not IPODS, but if a program becomes available for IPODS we will certainly investigate it.

Patrons DO need to be registered (have a library card WITH NO OUTSTANDING FINES OR OVERDUE MATERIALS) with the New Carlisle Public library, but patrons do not have to be present to register.  Registration can be accomplished either via telephone or e-mail.  We will then issue the patron with a username and password.

We will provide assistance (as much as is reasonable) with downloading the books onto the patron's MP3 players.

Patrons can use the library's computers to download titles if they do not have a high speed Internet connection at their home.

Titles become inactive after 21 days, but can be renewed.

We have two players to loan.  Patrons are requested to provide their own headphones.  If the patron is under 18, the PARENT must check-out the unit for the child.

Patrons will need to log-on to netlibrary.com and input their username and password.  This service will work with a dial-up connection, but a high speed Internet connection is strongly recommended.

To begin downloading go to http://www.netlibrary.com/ and click the log-in button.

Choose an audiobook.

Click on "Download this Audiobook."

Select CD or Radio Quality.  (Radio Quality has alot of "static")

After the title has finished downloading open it using Windows Media Player.  A pop-up will appear asking for your username and password to acquire a license.  After the license has been received simply right click on the file and select ADD TO, then select SYNC LIST

Select Sync from the menu at the top of the player.

Can I listen to it in my car?  If you have a cassette player in your car, yes.  Simply purchase a cassette adapter for the unit and plug the cassette into it just like you would your headphones.  That way you can listen to it in your car on the way to work, at home, or use the headphones and take it with you while you do dishes or laundry!

How long do the batteries last?  That, of course, depends on how frequently you listen.  Probably after 30 hours of play.  Many of the players have battery life indicators on the screens.
